Your Personal Advocates

Our focus is you. Our nurses really enjoy being your support crew. Wouldn’t it be amazing if the last years of your life could be lived the way you would like? We don’t have a board pressuring our decisions. We don’t have beds to fill. Our focus is to represent your wishes and roll out the final years like the red carpet at the grammy awards. PHC will clap as you walk down the aisle of your life. We are your cheerleaders and we are your advocates. Our goal is bringing Care to you, just the way you like it.

If your health situation changed tomorrow, would your choices be respected?

Our PHC nurses are at the heart of the care we provide. They bring together professional knowledge, practical experience, and genuine compassion to support people in a way that feels personal and reassuring. Our nursing team works closely with clients, whānau, carers, and other health professionals to ensure care is safe, respectful, and tailored to each person’s individual needs. We understand that inviting support into your home is a big decision, which is why we focus on building trusted relationships and providing care with warmth, dignity, and professionalism. Respecting your wishes is our purpose.

Nursing care that is built on relationships, not routines

VICTORIA SCHUTTE - Managing Registered Nurse

PHC is thrilled to have Vic now working as Managing RN. Raised in Timaru, Victoria began her career journey studying horticulture in Dunedin before discovering a passion for health and wellbeing through massage therapy and lymphatic drainage. Her work in Christchurch included supporting high-performance athletes at Sports Med as well as providing medical lymphatic drainage within clinical settings. Following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, she went on to train as a nurse, working in Surgical Assessment while continuing her massage practice.

After relocating to Wānaka with her husband, she moved into aged care, where she has spent the past decade in leadership and management roles. She is deeply passionate about helping people maintain independence, dignity, and choice in their healthcare, with a strong belief in compassionate, individualised support within the comfort of home. Palliative care also holds a special place in her heart, and she values the importance of providing comfort, trust, and meaningful support during life’s most vulnerable moments.

Vic is a true team player who brings warmth, kindness, and genuine care not only to the people she supports, but also to the team around her. PHC has had the privilege of knowing Vic professionally within the local community for the past six years and has continually witnessed her strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to improving the wellbeing of others. She has a natural ability to listen, support, and uplift those around her, creating a positive and supportive environment for both kiritaki and colleagues alike. We are excited to support Vic in the ideas and passion she brings for improving conditions for people living at home within our community, and we know she will be a valued and trusted part of the PHC family.

Outside of work, she enjoys masters rowing, spending time on the water, and supporting her twin daughters in their love of sport and dance

KIM TAYLOR - Registered Nurse Advisor

Kim has been a Registered Nurse since 1978 and brings more than 30 years of nursing and leadership experience to PHC. Highly respected and trusted within the Wānaka community, Kim has been an integral part of the PHC team for the past four years. Kim previously spent a decade in management roles across Wānaka aged care services, and in 2021 we were proud to welcome her as our Registered Nurse.

Kim is fondly recognised among our team for her “Gold Standard” philosophy of care, helping ensure PHC remains strongly focused on delivering personalised, client-centred support. She combines compassionate leadership with a strong commitment to health and safety, providing the structure, guidance and professional standards that support both our clients and our team.

Her enthusiasm, dedication and ongoing support inspire those around her and contribute greatly to the high standard of care we strive to provide within our community.

Kim has a particular passion for palliative and end-of-life care and has played a key role in strengthening PHC’s relationship with Otago Community Hospice. She values the importance of ensuring that clients and their families are informed, supported and empowered to make meaningful end-of-life choices with dignity and confidence.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys a balanced lifestyle with her family, including her three grandchildren and two much-loved grand dogs. She remains deeply committed to meaningful community care and is enthusiastic about supporting the community and helping PHC become a stable support long into the future. Kim enjoys a more relaxed pace of work and provides support and advice to Stella and Vic when needed. You will be lucky to have a visit or two when she is in town.

STELLA KEOWN - Registered Nurse Support

Stella is a passionate registered nurse with over four years of emergency and acute care experience across metro, rural, and remote Australia. After returning home to New Zealand in 2025, she now balances her time between PHC and practice nursing at a local medical centre. Growing up in West Otago, Stella brings a grounded and compassionate approach, understanding that community nursing is where the real magic happens.

Stella is dedicated to providing person-centred care, that focuses holistically on physical, mental, spiritual, family, and social wellbeing. She is inspired to build trusting relationships with clients, advocate for their needs, and support them to maintain their independence while continuing to live safely in their own homes.

Stella is enthusiastic about supporting clients with long-term neurological, cardiovascular, and mental health conditions, alongside dementia and end-of-life care. Her calm and caring nature helps clients to feel heard, and she values being part of a collaborative care team.

Outside of nursing, you’ll find Stella hiking in the mountains, enjoying yoga, the gym, or the sauna, or continuing her self-appointed mission to discover Wānaka’s best coffee spot with friends.

Working with people is Stella’s passion, and she is looking forward to meeting you.
